The Town of Horseshoe Beach is located in Florida's "Big Bend" on the Gulf coast, between the Suwannee and Steinhatchee Rivers.
The town provides "Old Florida" charm and a place to step back, fish and relax. There are very few places left in Florida with affordable coastal real estate so close to nature. This area offers some of the best fishing and scalloping in Florida. Redfish, seatrout, grouper, snapper, flounder and kingfish are just a few of the gamefish that are extremely prevalent in this area. With vast acreage of state wildlife management areas and federally-protected lands on both sides, Horseshoe Beach is a small town in the middle of old Florida's natural surrounding, and should always remain that way.
The Horseshoe Beach area was purchased from a timber company by the Butler/Douglas families back in the early 1900's. The town was incorporated in 1963. The town now has a full-service marina, restaurant, general store w/groceries and marine supplies, ice-cream stand, City Hall, US Post Office and two churches. Many of the residents travel around town by golf cart, visiting friends and enjoying the beautiful sunsets.
The town's peaceful surroundings, local businesses and coastal charm make Horseshoe Beach truly "Florida's Last Frontier."
